Parenting is the most wonderful, terrifying, joyous, exciting, and challenging job in the world. It can also be a lonely job that makes parents doubt themselves and their decisions. It is easy to become overwhelmed with determined pre-schoolers, tricky friendship issues, temper tantrums, homework, setting boundaries, and discipline.
Parent Coaching is a relationship that builds on your strengths to set realistic goals and to design step-by-step, manageable plans to attain them. Coaching can help parents define problems clearly, identify workable strategies, and help them follow-through in an effective way. Athletes, performers, and business moguls work with coaches throughout their careers. Children work with coaches and tutors all the time. Parents don't have to go it alone!
Building confidence and self-esteem, managing emotions, setting boundaries and expectations, dealing with stress and worries (yours and your child's).
Navigating age- and grade-specific issues, getting the most out of teacher conferences, dealing with report cards, testing, homework hassles.
Handling the social pressures of playdates and birthday parties, friends and frenemies, sports, lessons, hobbies.
Personal coaching allows you to clarify issues and set goals in a format tailored to the needs and schedules of your family, in the form of one-hour sessions in the office, telephone consultations, and/or video-chatting.
Small groups can be helpful support systems for parents. You can gather a group of friends yourself or join a topic study that fits your schedule. We typically start with 4-6 weekly 1½-hour sessions on mutually agreed upon issues
We are available to speak to large groups such as Parent Teacher Associations and clubs. Topics and formats can be tailored to the needs of your audience, and session outlines and sample materials are available upon request.
